Lianhe Zaobao article “客工涉非礼中风妇改判无罪 总检察署提出刑事参考”

In relation to a Bangladeshi male nursing home employee who was acquitted of outrage of modest charges in the High Court following an appeal, the AGC filed a criminal reference, to refer a question of law of public interest to the Court of Appeal. The question of law of public interest that was referred to is “In evaluating the uncorroborated evidence of a complainant in a sexual offence, is the evidence of an eye-witness to the alleged crime to be assessed by a higher standard than the “unusually convincing” standard which is applied to assess the evidence of the victim?”
