Opening of the Legal Year 2022 - Speech by the Attorney-General Lucien Wong, S.C.

We have been learning to cope and live with COVID-19 over the past year. Just as we thought we may have turned the page on the pandemic, the emergence of the new variant Omicron has reminded us of how unpredictable this crisis is. Throughout the uncertainty, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (or “AGC”) has stayed the course. We continued to provide critical legal support to the Government as it responded to the various challenges brought on by COVID-19. We have not allowed the pandemic to slow us down. Even in the midst of crisis, we embarked on new initiatives to improve the way we work and to do things more effectively and efficiently. I am very proud of the work done by my Chambers over the past year despite the pandemic, which I will share with you later on in my speech.
